Dear Devotees,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Jaya Rādhā-Śyāma!
The Season of Autumn in New Vraja-dhāma
In New Vraja-dhāma, autumn has once again arrived. Śukadeva Gosvāmī spends a portion of
chapter 20 of the Tenth Canto describing the glories of autumn, in order to enhance the
description of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes:
“The autumn season, which regenerated the lotus flowers, also restored the various bodies of
water to their original purity… cleared the sky of clouds, let the animals get out of their
crowded living conditions, cleaned the earth of its covering of mud, and purified the water of
contamination.” (Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 20.33-34)
Summer Festivities
It is heartwarming to look back on the vibrant whirl of the summer months, highlighted once
again this year by the Kṛṣṇa Valley Búcsú Festival. The Vedic wedding, the meet-and-greet
with our very own resident TikTok creator Vallabhī Devī Dāsī, and the evening kīrtana, all
drew many enthusiastic visitors.
This year, the two most important festivals in the Vaiṣṇava calendar—celebrating the
appearance days of the King and Queen of Vṛndāvana—fell in the month of August. Many
devotees joined us in celebrating Janmāṣṭamī, and we were honoured by the presence of
Bhakti Bṛṅga Govinda Swami, Candramauli Swami, and Adikarta Dāsa, who gave uplifting
and inspiring lectures.
We also welcomed a very special guest: Śrutirūpā Devī Dāsī, one of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s
former cooks. Still in possession of Śrīla Prabhupāda’s original cooking utensils, she travelled
all the way from America to be with Rādhā-Śyāma on the Nitya-sevā day she has kindly
sponsored.
At dawn on Rādhāṣṭamī, we once again witnessed the beautiful puṣpa-abhiṣeka ceremony.
We listened to an insightful lecture by Rādhā-Govinda Dāsa, and many devotees received
initiation on this auspicious day from Śivarāma Swami, Mahāprabhu Swami, and Bhaktipāda
Goswami.
Donor Highlight: Ujjvala Dāsa and Bhavinī Devī Dāsī
As usual, we would like to introduce a devoted donor couple. Ujjvala Dāsa first heard about
Kṛṣṇa consciousness around 1999–2000, at the age of eighteen, through a friend with whom
he was discussing reincarnation. Reading the Bhagavad-gītā answered all his questions and
thus he began attending programs at the Kecskemét centre (a town in Hungary). A few years
later, in 2004, he moved into the temple and became a saṅkīrtana devotee for some years.
Though not living as a full-time monk, he was always sure he wanted to dedicate his life to
Kṛṣṇa. He has consistently tried to offer the fruits of his work to the Lord, viewing his jobs as
a truck driver, crane operator, and warehouse worker as if he were acting as “an extension of
Kṛṣṇa’s arms and legs.”
In all his spiritual efforts, his wife, Bhāvinī Devī Dāsī, is a devoted and enthusiastic
supporter. Her journey to Kṛṣṇa consciousness was an adventurous one. An avid traveller,
Bhāvinī found herself in Tenerife a couple of years ago, where she met a devotee named
Tamās, who was connected to the local ISKCON temple. She found the philosophy and
lifestyle he presented appealing, and wanted to experience it for herself.
During her two-week stay, she visited the local temple, where she had the serendipity of
meeting Bhaktipāda Goswami, who happened to be visiting at the time—and by providence,
they later shared the same flight home. By the time she returned to Hungary, she was already
chanting eight rounds of japa daily.
Thanks to Tamās’ connections in Budapest, Bhāvinī met the local devotees and moved into
the temple, where she has performed various services including book distribution. Along the
way, she met Ujjvala Dāsa, and they have since married. At Rādhāṣṭamī this year, she was
amongst the fortunate devotees to become a disciple of Śivarāma Swami Mahārāja. It has
been an eventful period in her life!
Ujjvala and Bhāvinī now strive to meditate on the Lord in daily life, in order to follow the
essential instruction to: “Always think of Kṛṣṇa, and never forget Kṛṣṇa.” Supporting the
Nitya-sevā program became, for them, the best expression of this commitment. Indeed, they
continuously experience the deep influence of Rādhā-Śyāma in their lives, and amidst the
rigmarole of daily life, this fills them with spiritual strength. As they expressed: “It is a
wonderful feeling to know that this is an eternal service to Rādhā-Śyāma.”
We thank Ujjvala and Bhāvinī for their dedicated service, and we pray that spiritual blessings
manifest in every area of their lives.
On behalf of the Nitya-sevā team,
Your servant,
Mohana Dāsa
